Deuteronomy 13:8
Print
thou shalt not consent unto him nor hearken unto him, neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him;
thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
you shall not consent to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him.
You shall not give consent to him or listen to him; nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him.
Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity, and do not spare him or shield him.
don’t give in to them! Don’t obey them! Don’t have any mercy on them! Don’t have compassion on them and don’t protect them!
gods of the peoples surrounding you, whether near or far away from you, anywhere in the world —
Someone else may say to you, “Let's worship other gods.” That person may be your best friend, your brother or sister, your son or daughter, or your own dear wife or husband. But you must not listen to people who say such things. Instead, you must stone them to death. You must be the first to throw the stones, then others from the community will finish the job. Don't show any pity. The gods worshiped by other nations have never done anything for you or your ancestors. People who ask you to worship other gods are trying to get you to stop worshiping the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in Egypt. So put to death anyone who asks you to worship another god.
thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye spare him, neither shalt thou pity him, neither shalt thou screen him,
Consent not to him, hear him not, neither let thy eye spare him to pity and conceal him,
You must not agree with them. Don’t listen to them or feel sorry for them. Don’t let them go free or protect them.
But never agree with anyone who says that you should worship those gods. Do not even listen to him! Do not feel sorry for him. Do not try to protect him from punishment.
do not be influenced by him and do not listen to him. Your eye is not to look on him with compassion. Do not spare him and do not pardon him,
you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him.
you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him.
Do not ·give in to [agree with; consent to] such people. Do not listen or ·feel sorry for [L let your eyes look compassionately on] them, and do not ·let them go free [pity them] or ·protect [shield] them.
Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hear him, neither shall thine eye pity him, nor show mercy, nor keep him secret:
Don’t be influenced by any of these people or listen to them. Have no pity on them. Don’t feel sorry for them or protect them.
But do not let any of them persuade you; do not even listen to them. Show them no mercy or pity, and do not protect them.
you must not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity, and do not spare him or shield him.
Do not give in to him. Do not listen. Do not feel sorry for him. Do not let him go free or protect him.
You are not to yield to him, listen to him, look with pity on him, show compassion to him, or even cover up for him.
thou shalt not consent with him nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him; neither shalt thou have compassion; neither shalt thou conceal him,
Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
you shall not be willing to accept him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him; and you shall not spare him or conceal him.
you must not give in to him, and you shall not listen to him, and your eye shall not take pity on him, and you shall not have compassion, and you shall not cover up for him.
do not consent or listen, and have no pity: Do not spare that person from the penalty; don’t conceal his horrible suggestion.
And when your brother or son or daughter, or even your dear wife or lifelong friend, comes to you in secret and whispers, “Let’s go and worship some other gods” (gods that you know nothing about, neither you nor your ancestors, the gods of the peoples around you near and far, from one end of the Earth to the other), don’t go along with him; shut your ears. Don’t feel sorry for him and don’t make excuses for him. Kill him. That’s right, kill him. You throw the first stone. Take action at once and swiftly with everybody in the community getting in on it at the end. Stone him with stones so that he dies. He tried to turn you traitor against God, your God, the one who got you out of Egypt and the world of slavery.
you shall not consent to him or listen to him, neither should your eye pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him,
Don’t be influenced by any of these people or listen to them. Have no pity on them. Don’t feel sorry for them or protect them.
any of the gods of the surrounding peoples, near to you or far away, from one end of the earth to the other:
you shall not consent to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him.
you shall not yield to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him.
the gods of the people living around us, whether they be near or far, wherever they are upon the whole face of the earth,
Do not give in to such people. Do not listen or feel sorry for them, and do not let them go free or protect them.
You must not give in to him or even listen to him; do not feel sympathy for him or spare him or cover up for him.
Don’t give in to those who are tempting you. Don’t listen to them. Don’t feel sorry for them. Don’t spare them or save them.
do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them.
do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them.
you shall not consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him;
Do not agree with him or listen to him. Do not look on him with pity. And do not show him loving-kindness or hide him.
But do not give in or listen. Have no pity, and do not spare or protect them.
you must not yield to or heed any such persons. Show them no pity or compassion and do not shield them.
you must not yield to or heed any such persons. Show them no pity or compassion and do not shield them.
you must not yield to or heed any such persons. Show them no pity or compassion and do not shield them.
you must not yield to or heed any such persons. Show them no pity or compassion, and do not shield them.
Thou shalt not yield unto him, nor give heed unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him;
you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him;
you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him;
from among the gods of the peoples around you, near you or far off from you, from one end of the earth to the other.
So don’t listen to this person. Don’t agree to go worship other gods with him or her. Anyone who entices you like this must be executed! Don’t feel sorry for him, or have mercy on him, or try to hide what he’s done. Stone him to death because he tried to entice you away from the Eternal, your True God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and rescued you from slavery. As the witness to what he said, and as the person he tried to corrupt, you must throw the first deadly stone, and then everyone else will join in.
you shall not consent to him nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him;
assent thou not to him, neither hear thou him, neither thine eye spare him, that thou have mercy of him, and hide him, (assent thou not to him, nor listen thou to him, nor thine eye spare him, so that thou have mercy on him, or that thou hide him,)
thou dost not consent to him, nor hearken unto him, nor doth thine eye have pity on him, nor dost thou spare, nor dost thou cover him over.
